Stanley Avenue brings a modern, eclectic and interesting bistro-inspired menu to the North Shore. With inspiration taken from the best wine bars and bistros of London and Melbourne we offer a cosy and comfortable space to catch up with friends and family.
Our menu consists of modern interpretations of classic bistro dishes by highly regarded chefs and includes an array of grazing dishes, snacks, entrees, mains and desserts. Come for drinks and snacks in the afternoon or a beautiful dinner in the evening.
Our beverage offering is wine focused - our sommelier has hand-selected a wine list including the best local, imported and aged wines. We also offer a small range of craft beer and spirits, plus an extensive, interesting selection of non-alcoholic drinks.
Matthew Aitchison - Manager
Local resident Matt, has had a long career in the restaurant industry. He is a trained sommelier and has a keen interest in all aspects of hospitality; particularly hand selecting wines to complement talented chefs' menus.
Matt has worked in smart dining all around the world, and has run some of Auckland’s most impressive restaurants – including The French Café, Masu and Cassia.
Matt is highly regarded, receiving recognition in multiple hospitality industry awards.
Kathryn Aitchison - Assistant Manager
Kathryn (Matt's sister) has previously managed several ventures on the North Shore, including The Engine Room, The Commons, Little and Friday, and more recently Stanley’s Café.
Jono Beattie – Head Chef
Born and trained in New Zealand and spent time in London and Australia, Jono has a multitude of experience in working in high end, modern establishments.
Before a recent stint at Mr Morris as sous chef in Auckland, Jono has previously been head chef and owner of Woodhouse Mountain Lodge Restaurant in Warkworth, as well as many years as owner and private chef of exclusive catering company – Texture Catering.
Jono has a wealth of knowledge of European cuisine and a philosophy of sustainability and creativity, while using the best local ingredients.
Bruce and Lesley Baillie - Owners
North Shore locals, Lesley and Bruce are convinced that the neighbourhood wine bar and bistro concept is something that will be embraced and loved by the local community as a place to gather and socialise.

We offer a Main Menu Tuesday - Saturday for Dinner from 5pm, and for Lunch on Friday from 12pm to 3pm.
At other times the Snacks Menu is available, so you are able to book for drinks and nibbles in the afternoon.
We also ensure we keep seats free for walk-ins every day - so if you live in the area and your preferred time is booked out, we may still be able to seat you at one of our walk-in areas.
