The team at Stanley Avenue bring a taste of the best casual bistros from around the world to our own local neighbourhood, in a space that is modern, attractive and welcoming.
Stanley Avenue brings a modern, eclectic and interesting bistro-inspired menu to the North Shore. With inspiration taken from the best wine bars and bistros of London and Melbourne we offer a cosy and comfortable space to catch up with friends and family.
Our menu consists of fine cheese, interesting light bites and small plates, as well as more substantial, classic bistro style mains for those who want to stay the evening.
Our beverage offering is wine focused - our sommelier has hand-selected a wine list including the best local, imported and aged wines. We also offer a small range of craft beer and spirits, plus an extensive, interesting selection of non-alcoholic options.
Matthew Aitchison - Manager
Local resident Matt, has had a long career in the restaurant industry. He is a trained sommelier and has a keen interest in all aspects of hospitality; particularly hand selecting wines to complement talented chefs' menus.
Matt has worked in smart dining all around the world, and has run some of Auckland’s most impressive restaurants – including The French Café, Masu and Cassia.
Matt is highly regarded, receiving recognition in multiple hospitality industry awards.
Kathryn Aitchison - Assistant Manager
Kathryn (Matt's sister) has previously managed several ventures on the North Shore, including The Engine Room, The Commons, Little and Friday, and more recently Stanley’s Café.
Robertta Young – Head Chef
Originally from Alberta Canada, Robertta has worked in the industry for 15 years. After a short stint in Australia she took on the sous-chef position at Shepherd restaurant in Wellington, leading it to 2 Hats and Casual Restaurant of the Year.
More recently, she's been working at Culprit in Auckland's CBD where she continued her philosophy of sustainability and creativity while using the best local ingredients.
Robertta enjoys collaborations with other chefs and winemakers, so look out for special events in 2022.
Bruce and Lesley Baillie - Owners
North Shore locals, Lesley and Bruce are convinced that the neighbourhood wine bar and bistro concept is something that will be embraced and loved by the local community as a place to gather and socialise.

We offer a Dinner Menu from 5pm Tuesday - Saturday.
A Lunch Menu is available from 12pm - 3pm Thursday & Friday.
At other times the Snacks Menu is available, so you are able to book for drinks and nibbles in the afternoon.
We also ensure we keep seats free for walk-ins every day - so if you live in the area and your preferred time is booked out, we may still be able to seat you at one of our walk-in areas.
