The team at Stanley Avenue bring a taste of the best casual bistros from around the world to our own local neighbourhood, in a space that is modern, attractive and welcoming.
Stanley Avenue brings a modern, eclectic and interesting bistro-inspired menu to the North Shore. With inspiration taken from the best wine bars and bistros of London and Melbourne we offer a cosy and comfortable space to catch up with friends and family.
Our menu consists of fine cheese, interesting light bites and small plates, as well as more substantial, classic bistro style mains for those who want to stay the evening.
Our beverage offering is wine focused - our sommelier has hand-selected a wine list including the best local, imported and aged wines. We also offer a small range of craft beer and spirits, plus an extensive, interesting selection of non-alcoholic options.
Matthew Aitchison - Manager
Local resident Matt, has had a long career in the restaurant industry. He is a trained sommelier and has a keen interest in all aspects of hospitality; particularly hand selecting wines to complement talented chefs' menus.
Matt has worked in smart dining all around the world, and has run some of Auckland’s most impressive restaurants – including The French Café, Masu and Cassia.
Matt is highly regarded, receiving recognition in multiple hospitality industry awards.
Kathryn Aitchison - Assistant Manager
Kathryn (Matt's sister) has previously managed several ventures on the North Shore, including The Engine Room, The Commons, Little and Friday, and more recently Stanley’s Café.
Alok Vasanth – Head Chef
Alok is leading the creative process of menu design.
Alok is passionate about using local, seasonal and ethically sourced ingredients. Taking influence from both his European and Asian training and heritage; his creativity introduces a refined take on nostalgic flavours.
Alok has spent some time working in Melbourne where he worked at some of their leading restaurants including Tonka with Adam d'Silva and The Roving Marrow with Hayden McMillan. Here in Auckland he has finished a season at The Tasting Shed in Kumeu, and previously has worked with the likes of top New Zealand operators - Dine by Peter Gordon, Kermadec with Peter Thornley and multi award-winning Cassia with Sid Sahrawat.
Bruce and Lesley Baillie - Owners
North Shore locals, Lesley and Bruce are convinced that the neighbourhood wine bar and bistro concept is something that will be embraced and loved by the local community as a place to gather and socialise.
We welcome bookings, so please use the reservation form here to secure a table.
We offer a Dinner Menu
from 5pm Tues - Sat.
And a separate Lunch Menu
from 12pm - 3pm Thurs-Sat.
At other times the Snacks Menu is available, so you are able to book for drinks and nibbles in the afternoon.
We also ensure we keep tables free for walk-ins every day - so if you live in the area and your preferred time is booked out, we may still be able to seat you on one of our walk in tables.
We have seating available inside, outside, at the bar or in our private dining room (6 pax minimum).
